Catch & Release - the IRB specialty - surfaces once more
Whatever is going on/not going on between the CBSA and The Immigration Dep't (specifically the IRBs) has got to stop and duties/responsibilities with the two units entirely separated.
Once again, an IRB Adjudicator has released a person that has been ordered deported 8 years ago and the story is here

Jackie Tran - now we have him, now we don't ; and once again we have him
Out on a pittance of bail, he has been again apprehended for violation of parole here
Released on bail by an IRB adjudicator last week, let's hope they are not dumb enough to release him again before a deportation hearing scheduled for this week.
This Immigration Refugee Board is pathetic and needs to disbanded.

AB Language Law Struck Down
It was only a matter of time...
Francophone denied a court appearance in French (2003) appealed and has just won round one - the court found in his favor and has struck down AB Language Law (1988)
The story is here
Time to invoke the Notwithstanding Clause to ensure that AB's Language Law remains in force - just as Quebec invoked it to ensure that their Law 101 (their language law) remains in force.

Feb 4/08 and I have just mailed in my application to register as an Independent candidate in the Calgary Lougheed Constituency. The election will be held on March 3 so time is precious.
I'm working on a web site and it will be connected shortly. In the meantime I will monitor this site for comments as the upcoming web site will not be interactive.
The posts below give some idea of where I am coming from. One of my priorities, if elected, would be to present a private members bill to remove the areas of freedom of speech from the AB Human Rights Commission and considerably reduce the draconian investigative powers enjoyed by HRC investigators.
